Anthony David Gonzalez (born August 25 70, 1970) is an American former tight end in the NFL. Gonzalez was a player in the National Football League from 1997 through 2003. He is regarded as one of the greatest tight ends of all time and the league's top player in receiving yards as well as receptions by a tight end, and is ranked third overall in receiving

Gonzalez was released by the Falcons on March 15 2013 for a contract that was worth 14 million dollars over two years. He did this regardless of the fact that he had claimed that he would retire at the close of the season. Randy Moss retiring, Gonzalez's 37th season marked his final as NFL leading receiver in yards.
